Surigao City: Museo nan Surigao

Here are bits and pieces from my homeland. SURIGAO CITY : City of Island Adventures! <3

There was a time when Surigao City, provincial capital of Surigao del Norte, was simply known for its vast nickel deposits, the most abundant in Asia. But beyond its abundant mineral deposits in the mountain’s bosom, Surigao is a virtual minefield of natural wonders which have been overshadowed by its once-vibrant mining industry. Dubbed “The City of Island Adventures,” no city in the Philippines, and maybe the world, is so archipelagic as this urban center situated at the northeastern head of Mindanao. Known during the Spanish era as the port village of Banahao, Surigao became a town in 1751 and proclaimed a city on August 30, 1970. - Manila Bulletin

Planning to visit Surigao City? I really suggest you visit Surigao City Tourism Office (it's in Luneta. easy to find) so the friendly staff can set-up your itinerary based on your preferred activities, schedule, and budget. They can also setup your transportation and hook you up to the best tour guides in town.

Upon the entrance in the museum...
Pebbles with metallic(?) minerals.
Yup, that's a fish fossil embedded in the chalk/calcite.
Metal crafts found at the entrance of the museum.

Protected from all directions.
A very very old human bone. Haha. I doesn't sound like a scientist. Basta old! :))
Blending at its best!
Noli Me Tangere ang trip ng shell na 'to.
